Emmys 2015: ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ star Andy Samberg to host awards on Fox

Many of you may have saw this news coming, and now, it is finally official: Andy Samberg is going to be the man in charge of the 2015 Primetime Emmy Awards.

While Fox had a few different ways that they could have gone in terms of selecting the right many for this job, they ultimately chose to go with the “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star for the role. Given his time on “Saturday Night Live,” he knows a thing or two about performing live already. With “Last Man on Earth” (starring Will Forte) still early in its run, we’re not shocked that this is the way the network went. As a matter of fact, we predicted it months ago.

In a statement, Samberg said almost the majority of what you would expect him to:

“Buckle your seat belts, Emmy viewers! Like, in general you should buckle your seat belts in your car. In fact, even if you’re not an Emmy viewer, you should buckle your seat belt. It can be dangerous on the road. Also, if you’re not an Emmy viewer, you should strongly consider becoming one this year, because I’m hosting, and it’s gonna be a wild ride. So buckle your seat belts.”

As of right now, we have to admit we’re for the most part excited about this. While we tend to enjoy the majority of Samberg’s comedy, he is also the sort of comic who can be rather polarizing. Either you really love what he does, or some of it can be irritating. We’re more in the former camp What we are excited about is that it allows for a chance for there to be a few more music-related moments during the show, and that he has such a contact list that we could have plenty of cameos.
