‘Glee’ season 6, episode 10 review: Sue Sylvester’s new job; Dalton Academy in flames
We knew that Friday night’s “Glee” episode was going to be an intense one judging from the name itself: “The Rise and Fall of Sue Sylvester.” We’ve seen this character try to do just about everything over the years to ruin the New Directions from top to bottom, and tonight was her “grandest” gesture yet.
After Sue was fired from McKinley High after her notorious Hurt Locker was discovered, she then sat down for an epic interview with Geraldo “screw the terrorists, we’ve won” Rivera, who did a pretty good job of making fun of himself in the process. Through this, we learned that Sheldon Beiste and Will were the only two people who actually stood up for her … but she did not see what Will had to say in her favor. She took this hateful segment created by Rivera as her latest motivation to do what she does best: Seek and destroy.
Ultimately, she became the coach of Vocal Adrenaline! Seriously? It is completely insane, but this is what we’ve come to expect from the show at this point. Nothing ever makes sense; it’s like “American Horror Story” at this point.
The real highlight of the episode was “Rise,” the musical number featuring the merged Warblers and New Directions at the end of the episode. Dalton Academy burned down, and after some difference of opinion, they worked out just what they want to do moving forward.
This episode was far from the best. Save for Sam questioning Rachel making potentially the same mistake all over again, there wasn’t a whole lot of anything in here that really matters long-term. We wanted something more given where we are in the season. Grade: C.
