‘Supergirl’ spoilers: Superman will appear … sort of

While it does not seem like a certain Man of Steel will have a prominent part in the upcoming CBS series “Supergirl,” you should know full well that the producers are still finding a way to create a cameo appearance for the man.

As pointed out via KryptonSite, producers for the show are currently looking for a “body double” to play an iconic DC superhero. Judging from the subject line that you are supposed to enter in your casting email, it’s pretty clear that we are talking about Superman. We figure that the whole goal here is to mostly just give you a reminder that this character is out there, even if you don’t actually see them on the show itself longer than a second or so.

As you would probably expect at this point, DC Comics wants to keep many of their movie properties on the big screen, even though they do not have one overarching universe quite like what Marvel is doing. Personally, we’re fine with no Superman on “Supergirl,” mostly because we want the focus to be on the main character and not some other famous person who would end up overshadowing her. It’s for this same reason that we’re not upset about “Arrow” not really recognizing Batman very much during the whole Ra’s al Ghul storyline that is going on over there at the moment.

“Supergirl” will be filming its first episode next month, and while it is unclear for sure when CBS will put this on the schedule, we wouldn’t be shocked to see it on the fall schedule. Then again, we do wonder if premiering it after the Super Bowl would be an interesting move for extra ratings.
