‘Chicago Fire’ season 3, episode 15 review: How does Casey anger the new Chief?

Chicago Fire -At the end of last week’s “Chicago Fire” episode, Chief Boden understandably decided that he needed to take some time off as he deals with the loss of his father. In his place, we’ve got Chief Pat Pridgen … who turns out to be a terrible human being. This is not the sort of man you want sticking around this place for any long period of time. He’s power-hungry, contradictory, and he has it out for Casey.

What’s the reason for that? It’s basically personal, since he happened to hook up with the Chief’s ex. This revelation, which arrived to Dawson at the end of the episode, makes almost the entire story so much clearer. Casey is getting punished by having to do chores out in the cold, while Dawson has to deal with the emotional heartache of her own ex being with someone else. Clearly, this is not a step forward for the two getting back together.

While all of this was happening, it was nice to see at least a little of Boden this week, though we do wish it was under slightly better circumstances. He is still in mourning, but there is something revolving his father and a bank account that could be important very soon. We don’t know a whole lot about it just yet, but it could be important to keep watch over.

It’s interesting in a way that the main push of tonight’s episode was something that on a sitcom, would probably also work as a plot. Still, this show manages to really sell us on almost everything being intense, so we enjoyed the storyline with Chief Pridgen … though we do still miss Boden. Grade: B-.
