‘The Flash’ episode 14 preview: Robbie Amell, Victor Garber talk playing Firestorm

The Firestorm arc on “The Flash” has been so far almost everything that we’ve wanted it to be: Fast-paced, intense, emotional, but also at times fun. The show has not shied away from really taking advantage of the rarity of having two characters jammed within one body.

In the video below, the two men behind the character in Robbie Amell and Victor Garber speak out briefly about playing the part. For Ronnie Raymond and Martin Stein, it’s clear that this has become somewhat of a curse for them. Ronnie feels like Martin is keeping him away from Caitlin, and of course it is hard for Martin to have anywhere near the same life he had in this body. There is also tension over Stein being the person in mental control of his body.

The chemistry between the two actors here is pretty clear, with Amell joking that he has really enjoyed getting the chance to seem more “sophisticated” thanks to playing a Garber character. Meanwhile, Victor joked that this gives him a chance to feel younger and “good-looking.”

Who knows how long this Firestorm arc will last? We feel like Tuesday night’s “Fallout” will hardly be the last time we see him this season, though it is possible that the character could take a little time away after this story ends. Sooner or later, the show does need to deal with Reverse Flash, Grodd, and some of the other long-term stories that they have introduced into the equation to date.
