ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7 spoilers: Show boss on battle between Nathan Fillion’s Rick, 3XK

In just over 24 hours, we are going to see “Castle” back on ABC with new episodes, and in particular, we are going to have an episode here that features the latest chapter of the Jerry Tyson saga. While it is not entirely clear just yet how the series plans to close this story off, it feels like we could be near the end of the road altogether for this character and his arc on the show. How long can you really throw out 3XK and expect him to still be exciting? The answer to that is pretty simple: It’s only so long.

At least one of the things that is going to be interesting about Monday’s “Reckoning” is that regardless of whether or not we are dealing with the real Jerry Tyson right now, you are going to see a whole lot more of Michael Mosley in this episode than in some past other installments. Just take a look at what showrunner David Amann has to say to TV Guide on the subject:

“We’ve always really liked what 3XK and the Jerry Tyson character did for the show … 3XK and Jerry Tyson have cast a long shadow over the episodes they’ve been in, but in most cases his actual screen time has been somewhat limited. We were really hungry to get a bigger bite at Tyson and have Tyson and Castle, and Beckett interact more directly.”
