‘Criminal Minds’ season 10, episode 13 preview: Ben Savage appears; Rossi, Gideon’s past

We have to say that we’ve been looking forward to next week’s new episode of “Criminal Minds” more than most, and for a variety of different reasons. “Nelson’s Sparrow” not only is a chance to show off the writing talents of cast member Kirsten Vangsness, but it also allows us a chance to actually see Gideon on the show again!

With that being said, this is not the same Gideon played by Many Patinkin in the early days of the show. Instead, we’re getting another exciting guest star in Ben Savage, who will play the younger version of the man. Take a look at the short synopsis below for some further insight:

“The BAU revisits its origins when they look at one of Rossi and Gideon’s old cases to track a killer that got away, on CRIMINAL MINDS, Wednesday, Jan. 28 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Series star Kirsten Vangsness co-wrote the episode with Erica Messer, one of the series’ executive producers. Ben Savage (“Girl Meets World,” “Boy Meets World”) guest stars as young Gideon, and Arye Gross (“Castle,” “Ellen”) guest stars as Donnie Mallick.”

On a different note, isn’t this turning out to be a rather wonderful series of episodes for the Rossi character? Joe Mantegna directed tonight’s installment, which also proved to big one for the character’s personal life. Now, we are getting a little more into his past to take on a particularly notable cold case.
