‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 5, episode 16 preview: Mona’s text message; Spencer, Caleb’s trouble

“Pretty Little Liars” is in a dark place right now, and for some of the characters, next week’s new episode could make matters even darker. How did Mona send a text message beyond the grave? We don’t view this as any sort of evidence that she is alive; instead, this should be viewed more as a clue that there is something a little more sinister lying underneath the surface. Could someone be trying to pin her death on them? It definitely would not be the first time that Aria, Spencer, Emily, and Hanna are all suspected of being killers.

“Over a Barrel” is the title for this episode, and that’s a pretty-gross name when you think about how the story revolves now around Mona possibly having her body stuffed into a barrel. The promo below hints at that, while the official synopsis has some other details:

“Secrets are hard to keep, especially when you are keeping them from a loved one. Spencer searches for Mona’s missing laptop with Caleb’s help but where the search leads them could cross the “Toby approved” line. Aria tries to get up the courage to come clean to Ezra about her lie when she gets diverted by a possible goose chase. And Hanna is stuck in the middle having to cover Ashley’s secret when Pastor Ted returns with big news.

“Meanwhile, Emily has to put up with Talia’s annoying suggestions at work, as she struggles to come to terms with the end of her relationship with Paige.”
