‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16, episode 11 video: Fin and Carisi’s interrogation

Law & Order: SVU logoThere have been plenty of times over the years that “Law & Order: SVU” has really taken aim at the entertainment world, and it is really not particularly difficult to figure out why. This is an industry that unfortunately can product a number of terrible situations, and it is also one of the most difficult to prosecute. Often when you have someone who you are fairly certain is guilty of a crime, you may still have a hard time taking them down due to the wall of people that are in the way.

In the case of Wednesday’s “Agent Provocateur,” one of these said people is going to be none other than a suspect’s own agent (played by Patti LuPone). It appears at first like Carisi and Fin do a good job of starting to convince a suspected child rapist, an actor, that they can be trusted. However, it is not long after that the agent enters the picture, and this becomes far more complicated.

What makes the Carisi character such a good addition now is that he brings a different energy to the show. His interviewing style with suspects is similar almost to what we saw from Peter Gallagher’s character in this past episode; he tries to establish some sort of emotional common ground with the suspect, that way it is all the easier to convince them to let down their guard and spill the beans on whatever it is that they have been up to.

If the team is going to take him down, it seems fair to say that they better be prepared to take on this issue from every possible angle. It’s not going to be easy.
