‘Switched at Birth’ season 4 spoilers: Katie Leclerc on Daphne’s future

When “Switched at Birth” season 3 came to a close on ABC Family, we saw a sequence of events happen in pretty-dramatic fashion. Most notably, we saw Bay decide to trade in her own future so that Daphne could have one, taking the fall for some of her crimes.

There is a time jump of many weeks from the end of that season to the start of this one, so it’s fair to say that when the show premieres on Tuesday, Daphne is going to find herself in a difficult place, and dealing with a whole lot of guilt. Speaking to TV Guide, Katie Leclerc confirms this about her character, making it clear that the choice is in the past, but it will continue to haunt her:

“Bay made the choice … so Daphne in this weird place where she wants to make it up to her but it’s something [Bay] chose to do. Bay has a huge battle to climb … [Meanwhile, we’re] dealing with college life and some really difficult issues i never saw coming.”

There are also some interesting updates coming to Daphne’s love life, so also be on the lookout for that. This is going to be a crazy and eventful series of episodes ahead, and with college now here, you have to wonder how this will shake up the formula. So far, the show has really been able to utilize the high-school setting as a way to ensure that all of the characters continue to spend a good deal of time with each other.
