‘American Idol XIV’ spoilers: New mentor Scott Borchetta speaks out

American Idol XIV -Earlier this year, the news was confirmed that Scott Borchetta, the head of Big Machine Records and a man responsible for helping to launch the careers of Taylor Swift, Florida Georgia Line, and many others, is going to be the in-house mentor for “American Idol XIV.”

For the most part, we very much sign up on this move. Rather than have someone like Randy Jackson who is more of a franchise face for the show, they have someone who has real credentials as a music mogul who can help guide artists through the paces, similar to when Jimmy Iovine had the gig.

So how is Borchetta looking at this gig right now? Speaking to the Tennessean, he makes it clear that patience, and respect for the voting public, are two of the things that he will have to focus on here:

“It’s straight up the best artist wins … We’ve got to be really smart about it, and at the end of the day, America votes. We have to make sure the best artists are presented in a way that will get them the votes. That’s going to be an interesting part of the psychology going into the show. It’s a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll.”

One thing that we are personally curious about here is getting to see the full range of Scott’s musical knowledge. Obviously he knows much more than just country music, even if that is what he is known for.

If you want to check out some more great scoop right now courtesy of “American Idol,” Fox recently unveiled the top 24! The twist here is that you can only hear their voices, and see their silhouettes. There are no faces involved here at all. Take a look at that.
