Best of 2014 results: ‘King of the Nerds’ sits atop Reality Show throne

Over the past few weeks, we have taken the pulse of the TV community with all of our CarterMatt Awards. We announced a category a day for fans to vote on, and then two weeks later, we reveal the results.

This category in Best Reality Show is one that is new to the awards this year, but given our own reality TV background, it feels appropriate that we choose to honor this genre. There was no major criteria here, save for that it had to be a very entertaining show, and that it had to receive the most votes from our readers.

So who sits atop the Throne of Games? You saw it in the title: Nerds rule! With just over 45% of the vote, “King of the Nerds” withstood a last-minute challenge from “Big Brother Canada” and “Survivor: Cagayan” to hold the title this year … and deservedly so. We love this show: It’s a celebration of nerdiness, featuring relatable cast members, great challenges, and a pair of fun hosts in Curtis Armstrong and Robert Carradine.

This year, the timing for this award could not be better, given that the new “King of the Nerds” season premieres early next year. As we did most of last year, we’re going to be back for some more EXTENSIVE coverage! We’ll have spotlights, podcasts, reviews, previews, and other fun stuff. We’re probably going to need a caffeine IV drip to get through it all!

Seriously, this is a very fun show, and one that you should check out, if you haven’t already. We miss it when it is not on the air.
