‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ review: Phaedra Parks, Apollo Nida ‘talk’ about issues
Throughout most of this season of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” we knew that we were going to see many rocky moments between Phaedra Parks and Apollo Nida. With that being said, much of it came to a head at a music party in Sunday night’s new episode, when Apollo showed up unannounced to try to hash through some issues.
Well, we don’t really think that they accomplished a whole lot in terms of positive movement, and basically this entire confrontation did not make Apollo look very good. Watching these two interact on this season is depressing, and in some ways reminiscent of what we had last season on the New Jersey show with Teresa Giudice. You know that this is ending badly, so it’s like watching a car crash in slow motion.
As for Kandi Burruss and Mama Joyce, that is more of a broken record. Why do we need to see further scenes of arguments between these two? For Joyce, almost nothing seems to ever change, and it is both unfortunate and also a little frustrating at the same exact time as a viewer.
On the fun standpoint, one of our favorite moments tonight came courtesy of seeing NeNe have a whole lot of fun taking on a shopping channel, and also keeping herself from looking tired at the same time. We’d be entertained watching NeNe go grocery shopping, so maybe we are a little biased there.
Also, Demetria McKinney made a big splash on the scene, at least sort of. She basically was the subject of some shade-throwing, and was a tiny distraction near the end of the episode.
“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” this season is a mixture. NeNe and Cynthia Bailey were the fun MVPs of this episode, and we hope that sooner or later, this Apollo stuff can be put to bed so we can move on to better, more entertaining things. Grade: B-.
