‘Better Call Saul’ spoilers: AMC releases Bob Odenkirk promotional photo

Better Call Saul season 1Do you want to know how serious AMC is when it comes to promoting “Better Call Saul”? Well, let’s just say that they are even going the promotional photo route!

The image attached here is the first one of Bob Odenkirk’s character in this format from the show, which premieres on Sunday, February 9 at 10:00 p.m. Eastern, following “The Walking Dead.” Obviously, this is not meant to be some sort of action shot from the series or anything. It is designed more to just give you a character portrait, even if it is largely out of context.

“Better Call Saul,” in case you have missed many of the updates over the years, is viewed at least right now as a prequel to “Breaking Bad,” though there could be some time jumping in here at some point. Saul Goodman was not always Saul Goodman, and he was not always a lawyer, either. This is about his journey to get to where he had so many phones in his desk, and where he was working with so many bad people that his life was almost always at risk.

This show itself is a huge risk for AMC and executive producers Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. If it is terrible, they run the risk of completely ruining the “Breaking Bad” name or at least the Saul part of it. Few spin-offs ever come anywhere close to capturing some of the joy and the imagination of the original series.
