‘Girls’ season 4 spoilers: Meet Shoshanna’s parents!

We knew that “Girls” season 4 was going to be a family affair for some new characters, and now, we know precisely what that means.

According to a new report from Variety, former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Ana Gasteyer and “ER” veteran Anthony Edwards are going to appear in at least one episode of the HBO hit as Shoshanna’s parents. In other words, this is a great opportunity for us to really witness who in the world welcomed this character into the world. When we first saw her, she was extremely tightly-wound. Now, she is … slightly less tightly-wound than she was when we first met her.

This is a show that has been very patient introducing us to family members, but they have done a decent job with it over time. Jessa’s father was clearly the strangest of the bunch, and he was at the center of an episode that was in many ways powerful and provocative. We don’t remember if this was an episode we particularly loved back when it first aired, but this is one we do look back on pretty fondly now.

The fourth season of “Girls” returns with new episodes come Sunday, January 11, and we have to say that we are very intrigued to see if the show can recover from what we thought was a slightly weaker outing, and come out with something that is much more in the realm of fantastic.
