‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ episode 10 preview: Sarah Paulson on Bette, Dot, Jimmy
Through most of “American Horror Story: Freak Show,” Bette and Dot have been the focal point in one way or another. They were the women who were brought to the show, and we really saw the experience at first through their eyes.
Then, we saw them shipped off to House Mont (as we like to call it, since all the incest reminds us of “Game of Thrones”) by Elsa, and were eventually brought back, as these two provided to be quite adept at playing their own game of manipulation.
What happened this past episode was one of the more heartbreaking moments for the two, as they let their guard down and told Jimmy the truth about their feelings (in particular Dot’s).
As for what Sarah Paulson herself thinks about the story, the actress, who really has been brilliant this season, explained to TVLine that the unconditional nature of their relationship is what makes it so interesting:
“Jimmy, as played by Evan Peters, is just the heart and soul of the show. The one thing he has, and has always had from the beginning, is an enormous heart. He’s a real beacon of light for them, and Dot is completely in love with him. But he’s worthy of all that. He’s a real man. He accepted them right away for who they are, and they had no frame of reference for that. They feel very connected to him because he’s always been so good to them. He’s always looked out for them.”
We admit that while the show seems to be working more towards setting up Jimmy with Maggie, we do find ourselves rooting for him to end up with the sisters in some ways. They are the more interesting characters, and we also have a tendency to root for the underdogs.
