‘Survivor: San Juan del Sur’ finale: Is a Natalie Anderson win the best option?
Before you really dive too far into the finale for “Survivor: San Juan del Sur” Wednesday night, this is the sort of time where we do start to think a little bit about the legacy for the season, and whether or not there will be anything good to discuss down the road.
The funny thing about this season is that while the cast was not that great most of the time, and we had a twist that was not that effective, gameplay-wise, there were plenty of surprises throughout. This was not the final five we predicted at the start of the game. Our pick to win in Josh left at the start of the merge after Julie quit.
Almost no matter what happens here tonight, we feel like this is going to be considered a season in the bottom third. The only way that it could be redeemed slightly is if Natalie manages to emerge as the winner. She has played the consistently best game of anyone left; not only has she been strategic, she has done so in a way that will not alienate anyone over on the jury. She can also compete in challenges and work hard around camp; basically, she’s a player ironically even better suited for “Survivor” than “The Amazing Race,” which she was known for before this season began.
We remember how there were some anti-Twinnie fans before the season complaining about her and her twin Nadiya being on the season; now, many of these same people are rooting for her to win.
Maybe if Keith manages to win the season tonight, you have an interesting sort of conclusion, similar to when Bob Crowley won “Survivor: Gabon. He wasn’t a huge player, but it was a nice underdog story and a better alternative than the rest of the final three.
As for Missy, Baylor, and Jaclyn, they can all take credit for some individual moves in the game. With that being said, none were dominant, and if one of them wins, there will probably be grumblings about how someone else should have.
