‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ spotlight: Will snowboarder Jamie Anderson get another gold?
“The Celebrity Apprentice” loves athletes. With that being said, we are not always familiar with some of them. We’re beginning our contestant spotlight series today, a few weeks before the January 5 premiere, with a woman who we are admittedly not that familiar with: Jamie Anderson.
With that being said, we’ve done some research here, and we are ready to and prepared to talk about how she will probably be one of the normal people surrounded by most of the crazies in the boardroom when this show returns to NBC. At the bottom, you can share your take on her chances this season. (Please be kind and avoid spoilers, if you have any.)
Claim to fame – She won the slopestyle gold medal (the first one ever awarded) at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, and she is also a gold medalist from the X Games. Basically, she is an athlete who is extremely skilled at what she does, but typically doesn’t put herself out there much with a huge personality. Doing shows like this is a brand-builder for her, that way she can have more followers for any future endeavors / competitions.
Advantages – She does not appear to be completely insane, which is a major plus. She is going to be most-likely a workhorse in tasks, and will do whatever she is set out to do, and do it effectively. She’s probably also going to hold her own in any boardrooms.
Disadvantages – Unfortunately, we don’t know what her celebrity Rolodex looks like, and while she may know many Olympians, it’s not like athletes in some sports have millions of dollars lying around to give to charities. She won’t be immediately recognizable in challenges where that matters, and we are also not entirely sure that she is going to be a creative force in any task. We haven’t seen that side of her.
Charity – Protect Our Winters, an organization that unites the winter-sports community in a battle against climate change.
Prediction – Almost every athlete type like Jamie tends to last a few weeks, and then get eliminated while Donald Trump keeps more incompetent people around. Her Achilles’ heel may be that we’re not sure she will be great TV, and that is an unwritten part of Trump’s criteria. This is a man who kept Gary Busey around until almost the finale of one season.
