‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 8 spoilers: First look at 2015 premiere!
“The Big Bang Theory” ended the fall half of its season last week, and with an episode that revolved around everything from clean rooms to Sheldon actually making Amy happy with a Christmas gift … even if it was on accident.
So what lies ahead in 2015? Well, we have some insight now courtesy of the January 8 installment, which carries with it the title of “The Space Probe Disintegration.” This is one that, on the surface, seems to be about something great in the men trying to make the women happy. However, in doing so Sheldon starts to become unhappy, and then hilarity almost inevitably ensues. Take a look at the short synopsis released by CBS this morning:
“When the guys finally agree to do something the girls like, it leads to a confrontation between Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon (Jim Parsons).”
Nothing in this synopsis sounds altogether original, but to us, the story is not so much about that as it is the physical comedy of it all, and how Sheldon has a meltdown. We’ve seen the man have so many of these over the years that today, the real challenge exists in trying to separate one from all of the others.
There are some other other stories that we’d like to see in the second half of this season, including more of Raj and Emily, Leonard and Penny actually starting the wedding planning (even if they don’t marry this season), and at least one character having a major career leap forward.

Emily should be the “fourth” bbt girl! Finally give Raj a girl in the cast photos instead of always just 7. I would hope that in current cast photos she’ll be included. It offers more diversity to have a redhead there.

I wish they would be more consistent with the characters. Having some of their personalities do 180’s just destroys my ability to surrender belief and get into the show more.
For example Amy changed between season 4 and season 5 more than any single person ever could in such a short time. I much prefer the Amy from season 4, she was so quirky, the almost normal season 5 Amy lost like 90% of what was good about her for the show.
Similarly with Penny who went from one of the cool girls, who had a history of being a bully towards losers, to being one of the nice people. While Bernadette went from being the nice one who at one point was reprimanding Penny for being a bully, to being the bully herself with Penny reprimanding her.
All this character flux is just too much, the show would be so much better if they were just a bit more consistent.

I would like to see more of Sheldon as a professor. Also, I would like to see Raj deal with his parents divorce. It would give Kunal Nayyar a good storyline. He is such a good actor, but he is underrated on the show. In addition, wedding preparations would be fun to see, although I think that the wedding will be next season for the the 200th episode. Here’s to great 2015 for the Big Bang gang.
