‘The Mentalist’ season 7 spoilers: Official details on ‘Black Market’

We have to start off this new story on “The Mentalist” with a simple note regarding an episode title: “Black Market” is actually “A Hint of Yellow.”

The upcoming fourth episode of the season, airing a week from Sunday night, carried the latter title until very recently, when the network / the show opted to make the change. After reading the synopsis below, which makes this episode sound in particular like a big one for the Abbott character:

“The team investigates a murder linked to a counterfeit diamond operation, but an illness forces Jane to direct his colleagues from the office as he recuperates. Meanwhile, Abbott is concerned that transgressions in his past could harm his wife’s chance to obtain a prestigious job in Washington, D.C..”

The major thing that we hope for from this episode is laughs, since there is something to us that sounds very funny about an ill Patrick Jane ordering people around. Meanwhile, Abbott’s past could also be interesting, mostly because of just how hush-hush the show has been so far about his past before Jane and Lisbon came to work for him.

There are also not going to be that many opportunities beyond this to really learn a whole lot more about the man. After all, you have to remember here that there are only nine episodes left beyond this until the show is at the end of the road.
