‘Rizzoli & Isles’ season 6 official; TNT renews Angie Harmon – Sasha Alexander drama

The latest -There’s no reason to worry about the immediate future for Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander on TV.

While it was always assumed that “Rizzoli & Isles” would be renewed for another season, we did admittedly end up waiting for the confirmation far longer than we thought that we would. According to Deadline, the reason for the delay was a difficult series of negotiations between TNT and studio Warner Horizon, and they included everything from the licensing fee to also the size of the pickup. While there were discussions about a two-season renewal, it instead ended up being a single season of just 18 episodes. Granted, there is still room for another renewal down the road.

This show has went through a pretty difficult transition, given that they underwent a showrunner change for season 5, and they also lost one of their cast members in Lee Thompson Young in tragic fashion. The show has persevered, and remains one of the most-watched scripted shows on cable. While it is not necessarily a home-run hitter in the 18-49 demographic, it still does very well there and remains a valuable commodity for TNT as a whole.

The network itself is also in the process of making some rather significant changes. After all, former Fox programming head Kevin Reilly is stepping into power here, and in doing so, he is replacing Michael Wright, who is one of the people responsible for really making this network into a cable power.

This new season will more than likely premiere on the network next summer.
