‘Sherlock’ season 4: Andrew Scott, Benedict Cumberbatch land new major roles
Just in case you were curious about what is going to be coming up with some actors famous for “Sherlock,” let’s just say that they have quite a bit on their docket.
We begin here with series star Benedict Cumberbatch, who was finally confirmed after a lengthy period of great speculation to be the star of the upcoming Marvel movie “Doctor Strange.” This has been rumored for some time, but in a statement, studio head Kevin Feige passed along the following message:
“Stephen Strange’s story requires an actor capable of great depth and sincerity … In 2016, Benedict will show audiences what makes Doctor Strange such a unique and compelling character.”
Meanwhile, Cumberbatch’s co-star Andrew Scott has also been confirmed for a role as a villain within the upcoming James Bond movie “Spectre.” This marks the latest villainous role for the man, who you know from playing Moriarty on this BBC hit. Some of the other actors in this film include Ralph Fiennes as the new M, and also Christoph Waltz as another villain. Yes, let’s all act somewhat surprised that Waltz is playing yet another bad guy, since this is something that he does so effectively.
These two projects are going to make these actors all the busier, but we don’t expect that it changes anything in regards to filming the upcoming fourth season. Scott’s status in it is unclear in the first place (based on the cliffhanger in the third season finale), while Cumberbatch seems to have mastered balancing all sorts of things.
