‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 7, episode 12 reaction: Theo Rossi on Juice’s pie, ultimate fate

Juice -Are you still feeling a little bit choked up after watching the “Sons of Anarchy” episode last night? There was so much crazy stuff that happened, in many ways this could have doubled for a series finale if Kurt Sutter wanted it to be so. We lost three critical characters to the series, and there is only one more story left to be told.

For Juice, his death scene in particular came after he spent so many years cheating it. After spending so much time running, we finally arrived at a point where there was no way out for him. In the end, all he wanted was to finish his pie, and then prepare for a very bloody conclusion.

So what did Theo Rossi have to say about filming this scene, and having it be Tully (Marilyn Manson) who delivered the final blow? Speaking to TVLine, the man behind this brilliant role said the following:

“Like anything in life, when you’ve had enough, it’s enough. Where does the cycle end? It’s never going to end. If it’s not Tully, then it’s the Chinese in prison, and I’ll be puppeteered to do something else. Juice can’t make his own choices, and he finally had a chance to make his own choice. And his own choice is, ‘I’m going to go. And I’m going to go on my terms.’ It’s very different than what he tried to do in Season 4, when he tried to take his own life. He was doing that to save others, and this is the first time Juice has done something for himself. There was no more secrets. No more protecting Gemma, no more protecting Clay, no more caring what Jax thought. It was just over.”

Maybe within these moments, Juice found the order and the peace that he never had in his life. Regardless, this was a brilliant way for the character to go. He no longer has to suffer, and he also spares himself from seeing what could be an even-bloodier final act for the series.

If you missed it, Katey Sagal also discussed last night how she felt like Gemma had a fitting end of her own. You can see some more on that over at the link. Also, sign up today to get some more TV updates on all we cover, sent to you via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: FX.)
