‘NCIS’ season 12 spoilers: Another tease on Jeri Ryan, Gibbs’ second ex-wife
There may not be a more-anticipated guest star on “NCIS” right now outside of Gibbs’ second ex-wife, and one of the biggest reasons for that is simply just how much time the show has spent talking about this in some form. It started all the way back in the summer with executive producer Gary Glasberg discussing the role; even the buildup for Bishop’s husband Jake has already subsided.
We learned recently that Jeri Ryan, best known from the “Star Trek” universe, is going to be playing this part, and speaking of Bishop, Emily Wickersham said the following to TVLine about what you can expect from this particular part:
“The fans are in store for some goodies … We just finished shooting that episode, and it’s a big deal for the team. And it’ll be the same for the fans, a huge deal. It’ll be an exciting one, for sure.”
In other words, this should be a really fun episode. We do hope that it is, and we also hope that it shows off the lighter side of Gibbs. He has never exactly been the comic relief for the show, but we feel like the story could benefit more from getting every side of his personality. It’s been quite a long time since we’ve really had that.
Let’s just hope that you are fine with waiting for a little while, given that this is not an “NCIS” episode that will be coming on the air for a little while.

I too, am excited. It will be interesting as Gibb’s exes have all been somewhat mysterious. There was always a mysterious redhead in the early seasons that he would leave with. I don’t remember if they ever clued us in as to whom she was. This season is definitely more settled than last year and I hope that they continue with us being able to see more of each character. My curiosity is still peaked as to when the Russian baddie is going to rear up again and just what the heck is his connection to Ari Haswari? All I know is that NCIS always keeps us guessing and that is why I keep coming back.

I am really excited about this episode. Emily’s comments peak my interest even more. And I agree, I would love to see a lighter side of Gibbs. However you cut it, I love a Gibbs heavy episode and the ones with his exes are always especially memorable. Bring it on! A bright spot to look forward to in the long cold winter.
