‘NCIS’ season 12 spoilers: The focus of (Gibbs-centric?) winter finale
While we may be a few weeks away right now from the winter finale of “NCIS” season 12 on Tuesday, December 16, it’s never too early to get a little bit of scoop on what to expect, right?
This is at least the thinking that we have right now going into what is most-likely going to be a very big episode for Mark Harmon and the Gibbs character. Specifically, showrunner Gary Glasberg tells TVLine that we may be seeing much of the story through McGee’s eyes as we further examine all of the various practices that Gibbs has put into place since really getting the NCIS team going strong:
“The rules have become a big part of the show’s moral and professional compass, and who better than Tim McGee to guide us through the list.”
The episode is going to be set during the holiday season, so expect to see the show stay consistent as it navigates through time almost in accordance with the real world. We hope for an entertaining episode, and at least one that tries to top that pretty emotional event last year that gave us so much more insight into the left of Leon Vance.
While we were at first thinking that Gibbs was becoming almost a background player for “NCIS” this year, Harmon has become more of a focus as of late. Last night’s “Semper Fortis” was a big showcase for the character, and we may have that again soon in a couple of weeks after we get through Thanksgiving.

This sounds like a really good episode, much better than the Robert Wagner one a couple of Christmases ago. I’m excited that my two favorite characters will be centric, although I’m sure we will get a good mix from the team. The topic of Gibbs rules is also one that can be a vehicle for looking back, as I recall Pauley P tweeting recently. I am eagerly anticipating this one.
Especially in light of the fact that, as you said in the article, Gibbs had almost become a background player, I’m glad to see him in the forefront again.

I doubt that there will be much for anyone but hero Gibbs and angsty McGee. I’m sure Gibbs and McGee fans have been quite happy this season since Gibbs gets all the excitement and drama and they are pushing McGee way ahead of Tony in terms of significance to the show. I for one am not excited that they are pushing this pair to the front again in a highly publicized episode. Sorry but another McGibbs McEpisode just sounds McBoring.

I’m great with Gibbs-centric because he is the center of the show. Bring it on!

McGee is totally Gibbs disciple, Gibbs trained him from green probie to the special agent he become today, while Tony was already half way done because he was a police officer before join Gibbs Team, that’s why McGee is more look up to Gibbs than Tony, and in some way I think McGee found a supportive father figure he always wanted from Gibbs, and McGee is a rule freak, he’s the only one that not bring mobile to MTAC because it’s forbidden, remember??

it’s Saint Gibbs again. Why not Tony? sick to death of Tony being relegated to comic relief. Also, Bishop is still a worthless character.

Of course it’s Gibbs centric. Aren’t they all? And of course since tptb are determined to push McGee to the front as Gibbs new second in command of course it’s McGee who will be featured as well. They sure are pushing the Gibbs/McGee pairing aren’t they? Tony/Michael Weatherly has obviously fallen out of favor with tptb since he gets nothing but lame C plots. Once again, as with in the Ziva/tiva reign, Tony fans get usual middle finger from the show runner and executive producers.

It was never about Ziva. That was a red herring. It was always about Gibbs. Tony is always sacrificed on the altar of Gibbs.

It was all about the angst and drama of Ziva too, but ultimately yes, Gibbs got his usual lion’s share. This season they’re just shamelessly giving it ALL to Gibbs and spoiling it as if we’re just going to be so surprised and thrilled. I guess since McGee is no threat, he has become the next best thing to GIbbs. They keep pushing that relationship now as if it’s really super deep and interesting. (Dull as dishwater actually). I’ll make a prediction here too. Since the season finale is always an arc and terribly significant, we know that it will revolve around super Gibbs in danger and peril showing his usual lion’s share of heroism and cunning (boring and utterly predictable, but nonetheless written in stone). Here’s the other part that I’m nearly as sure will happen. McGee will be in peril with him so they can shove some more of that “special” bond down our throats while Tony insignficantly frets in the bullpen and wears that clicker out.

Which Gibbs Rule is it where you don’t abandon your broken, wrongly-guilted surrogate daughter who, BTW, also saved your life? Go ahead, tell us about your rules, Gibbs.
And wow, a Gibbs centric episode -cause we never get enough of those.
Is Tony going to again be relegated to being the comic relief?

Who better than McGee? Um, Tony, Abby, Ducky! This comment just sits wrong with me. It’s like he hasn’t ever watched early episodes of the show and is forcing a McGee/Gibbs bond that has just never existed.

Yes – TPTB seem to be vainly trying to replace “tiva” with “McGibbs”, both which I found and find completely unconvincing.
