NBC’s ‘The Voice’ results: Did #VoiceSave keep Jessie Pitts, Sugar Joans, Ryan Sill from elimination?
Tonight, we had the first edition of “The Voice” results show, and they crammed quite a bit of content into a very short amount of time. There were twists, cheesy group performances, and of course very dramatic results in here.
Also, the #VoiceSave twist re-entered the equation tonight, which is something that the show really loves. Gotta have that social-media traffic, right? Well, we can tell you right now that the following three artists have all been set to compete for the save tonight: Jessie Pitts, Sugar Joans, and Ryan Sill. We’re not too shocked about any of these results, save for maybe Jessie. Based on when we looked at the iTunes results, we actually thought that Reagan James was going to be the one in the bottom instead of Jessie. That’s not good for Blake Shelton, that two of his acts could be in danger.
Who did we think was worth saving after the performances? We still feel like Ryan is not ready for prime time, and we would have given all of our votes to Jessie. She was at least showing some artistry, and we felt like there was somewhere still to go with her.
Well … this was surprising, wasn’t it? Ryan was saved, and we feel like this was almost a result of young viewers voted for the good-looking guy. He’s got a pleasant enough voice, but we haven’t heard anything from him worth saving over the other two. Also, we cannot see him making it any further than maybe the top eight … unless of course he gets that wildcard twist.
Who knows, though? These results could change things going into next week, since it shows Ryan how much harder he needs to work.
Some other notes from tonight:
- Blake Shelton’s final words prove that he is the best marketer out of all the coaches. Then again, he markets everything, including that bacon-stuffed crust pizza.
- Carson Daly has not deviated from that script once on these results shows. Ugh.
- We petition to let Pharrell get 90% of the speaking time of all the coaches combined. So articulate!

I can see that the public and the critics were not very fond of Sugar Joans. Sadly, they don’t appreciate her talent as well as her kind of music. Her performance on ‘Say a little Prayer’last week was unlike any others. Her vocal ability and her stage presence are superb. After watching her, I went on youtube and listened to both Aretha Franklin and Dionne Warwick performing this same song, and I must say that although I love both Dionne and Aretha, I prefer Sugar Joans’ version. Too bad she was eliminated too early for the public to see her talent. Her song choice this week could have been contributed to this premature elimination. I believe if we had an opportunity to see more of her (if she had not been eliminated), we would understand how talented this young woman is. But I’m sure that Sugar is unstoppable now. She will thrive with Pharell’s support. The other two favourites of mine are Danica and Tayloy John Williams. I hope either of them will win The Voice.
