‘Once Upon a Time’ season 4 spoilers: Colin O’Donoghue on Hook’s expectations
On this past episode of “Once Upon a Time” season 4, one thing was made pretty darn clear when it comes to the Captain Hook character: Things were not going very well. Colin O’Donoghue’s character saw his fate hanging in the balance the moment that he was put under the spell of Rumpelstiltskin, and even still there is no guarantee coming up that anything is going to change.
So what is running through the Captain’s head right now? As Colin O’Donoghue explains in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hook seems to understand that he has a hard time getting himself out of this situation, but at the same time, he is struggling just as much with the idea of betraying Emma, even if he is not in the right mind to completely do so of his own doing:
“Hook firmly believes that Rumplestiltskin is going to kill him … He has to do whatever Rumple tells him to, but he can’t help but already miss the idea of not having Emma. He’s desperate to try and figure out a way to survive, but for somebody who prides himself on being a survivor, this is the last grasp.”
Are we worried that Hook is going to be breathing his last breath pretty soon? The answer to that is both “yes” and “no.” We’re concerned about him potentially losing everyone he loves, but given that this is typically a positive, upbeat show, it feels almost a little like a bridge too far to suddenly turn it dark by killing every one of Emma Swan’s loves.
