‘The Flash’ spoilers: Show boss on that Grodd tease

The Flash -The writers and producers for “The Flash” can be a tricky bunch sometimes, and we had what was almost a perfect example of that at the end of this past episode. In introducing Grodd, they have found a way to integrate one of the famous villains from the DC comic series, while at the same time leaving enough open for down the road to evolve or change the character.

How long are you going to have to wait to find out what the plan for Harrison Wells and company is for this character? This really is the question that you really are going to have to ask yourself at the moment. What we can tell you is that there is some sort of plan for this character, and it is something that the producers have devised for the long game. Speaking to TVLine in a new interview, executive producer Greg Berlanti makes some of that clear with the following comment:

“I would say we’re going to deal with it this year. The comparison I make is a little bit to Slade the first year on Arrow in the sense of we started with the mask in the pilot and then we saw which way we were going. He was, ultimately, in the back half of that first season even more than we would ever do with Grodd this first year because… We’re going to have to get the technology right and all the stuff right to make it look and feel real. But a lot of times, we do this stuff not as a tease as much as a challenge to ourselves of, “Can we do it?” Grodd’s definitely one of those, so we hope we pull it off.”

Personally, we’re fine with waiting for Grodd however long it takes to get the character right. After all, this is one of those that could come across as extremely silly in inexperienced hands, so what we are hoping for here ultimately is a worthy treatment. If you cannot set that up right away, it is more than fine.
