‘The X Factor’ UK results: Was Only the Young, Jay James, or Stevi Ritchie eliminated? Also, Olly Murs
Tonight, “The X Factor” UK continued along with what is a very cruel stunt: Announcing most of the results on the night, but then making you wait for a little while before actually learning who in the end was going to be eliminated.
When the show decided to cut off the results, we were left with a fairly-unsurprising bottom three acts of Jay James, Only the Young, and Stevi Ritchie. We felt like the judges slightly overrated the group last night, and while we love them, we weren’t surprised to see them there. Meanwhile, Stevi most-likely knew that if he was in the bottom two, there was almost no need at all for there to even be a sing-off. He would be heading out the door.
After the results came in, we learned that it was officially Jay versus Stevi, which felt on the surface like the most predictable one ever. Jay has the chance at a career in music.
But … was it so predictable? This is when some really crazy stuff started to happen. It felt at first like this was going to be a unanimous vote to send Stevi home, and then we saw both Mel B and Cheryl opt to send home Jay. We had a deadlock, and then Jay was sent home!
Somehow, Stevi found a way to continue despite not being a great singer, and we feel almost like a judge or two may regret this. Ultimately, though, we feel like from an entertainment perspective, we probably are going to love having Stevi on here more … though Jay’s “I Would Walk” is our favorite performance of the season.
