‘Law & Order: SVU’ season 16, episode 7 video: Last look at Mariska Hargitay, ‘Chicago PD’ crossover

Law & Order: SVU logoLast night, you saw the beginning of what is going to be a massive chain of events to take place on both “Law & Order: SVU” and “Chicago PD” tonight.

So what are we going to see coming up? One of the events that NBC seems to be the most interested in teasing right now are the meetings between Sergeant Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Voight (Jason Beghe), and we suppose we understand the reason why there. These two are powerful personalities, but they also do things very differently. Voight is a rough cop, and the sort of guy you never want to be in an interrogation room with. Meanwhile, Benson tries to go about solving her cases with strength, leadership, and working her suspects to uncover the truth. Voight uses more physical intimidation, whereas Benson is much more cerebral.

Overall, NBC has a number of reasons to feel very good about this crossover at the moment. The ratings for “Chicago Fire” last night were very strong, and there is no reason to think that this is going to change at some point in the near future. Ultimately, what we are really hoping for here is that we’re going to get a chance to see what happens when these forces collide, and a ring exploiting children in the worst possible way is brought to justice.

With all of this being said, we hardly believe that this is the only crossover between the shows that we’re going to see this year. There is a heck of a lot of time left, and with “SVU” still a good two-thirds of the season still to go.
