Ratings: ‘Chicago Fire’ season 3 helped by ‘The Voice,’ ‘Chicago PD’ crossover

Chicago Fire -Chicago Fire” probably wishes it would come on after “The Voice” every week. Also, it probably wishes that they could also do a number of further crossover events with “Law & Order: SVU” and “Chicago PD.”

For the first part of this big TV event, “Chicago Fire” delivered with what was a very impressive 2.2 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, which was easily enough for it to dominate both “Person of Interest” and “Forever” in the timeslot. To be fair, though, the show would have won its spot on the night regardless, since the other two shows are struggling as much as they are.

There was ultimately not too much of a reason to worry about the future of “Chicago Fire” regardless, given that with it so close to syndication, NBC is certain to renew the show for a fourth season. With that in mind, we also expect “Chicago PD” to get another season or two, as well. We’ll see how its ratings fare on Wednesday, but it has tended to struggle a little more than its fire-department counterpart.

This crossover was extremely well-promoted, and with that in mind, coupled with a lead-in from the results show of “The Voice” Wednesday night, we continue to expect some very big ratings to come out. We’ll just ultimately have to wait and see a little of what happens here.

For those who are curious, “The Flash” (1.4) finished with a rating that was very impressive, and just a tenth in the demo behind Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD” over on ABC. Pretty impressive, no?
