‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 8: Melissa Rauch, Kunal Nayyar on death of Carol Ann Susi
Yesterday, the sad news broke for the first time that Carol Ann Susi, best known as the voice of Howard Wolowitz’s mother on “The Big Bang Theory,” passed away. It’s a huge loss for all who knew the veteran character actor, and of course a big part of the show.
While most viewers never saw her face, she was family to the actors who worked on the show, and spent a good bit of time with her over the years. The producers spoke out about losing Susi yesterday, and below, you can see some messages from stars Kunal Nayyar (Raj), Melissa Rauch (Bernadette), and Mayim Bialik (Amy).
We’re sure that at some point, there will be questions as to how the show chooses to move forward with this story. Howard’s mother was being cared for by Stuart (Kevin Sussman) in recent episodes, and there were stories especially near the end of last season that suggested the character was not well. It would be disrespectful to Susi’s memory to keep the character alive forever, so we expect an emotional story ahead about Howard the character having to move forward without one of the most important people in his life.
Hopefully, CBS will address Susi’s passing with at least a title card during Thursday night’s new episode, even if there is a quick turnaround. Given the affection that the entire group had for her, there will most likely be more coming beyond this in the weeks and months ahead.
Stay tuned, as we will have more on this story soon. For now, we once again send our thoughts and well-wishes out to all who knew Susi.

Carol was funny as Mrs. Wolowitz. She wii be missed. My favorite episodes with her were the Thanksgiving episode and the one in which she took Raj’s car keys and clothes when he was watching her when Howard was out of town.
I also liked Carol Ann as Jean, in The Secret of my Success. Rest in Peace.
