‘The Big Bang Theory’ actress Carol Ann Susi, known for Howard Wolowitz’s mom, dead at 62

Here it is -Extremely sad news came out today when it comes to actress Carol Ann Susi.

While many of you many not have know her face, a good many of you definitely knew her voice. She was the memorable voice behind Debbie Wolowitz, Howard’s mother on “The Big Bang Theory.” She never really appeared on-camera, save for a brief glance from afar after Howard and Bernadette’s wedding. She was a huge part of the show, and was one of the most important characters. The sound of her voice was enough to incite laughter.

The sad news today was confirmed by executive producers Bill Prady, Chuck Lorre, and Steve Molaro, who said the following in a statement:

The Big Bang Theory family has lost a beloved member today with the passing of Carol Ann Susi, who hilariously and memorably voiced the role of Mrs. Wolowitz … Unseen by viewers, the Mrs. Wolowitz character became a bit of a mystery throughout the show’s eight seasons. What was not a mystery, however, was Carol Ann’s immense talent and comedic timing, which were on display during each unforgettable appearance. In addition to her talent, Carol Ann was a constant source of joy and kindness to all. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with her family during this time, and we will miss her greatly.”

Long before playing this part, Susi was a veteran character actress known for a variety of different parts. “Married … with Children” and “The King of Queens” are just two of the other beloved comedies in which she made an appearance, and she also did a significant amount of work in drama over her past 40 years in the television industry.

Our thoughts go out to everyone who knew and loved Susi on the show over the years. She will be sorely missed. (Photo via CBS.)
