‘Glee’ season 6: Matthew Morrison lines up post-show project on Broadway

Matthew Morrison -For those of you wondering how Matthew Morrison was going to be moving forward following his time on “Glee,” we are very happy to have for you an official answer right now: He will be returning to his roots.

Sources confirm that the recently-married actor, best known for playing Will Schuester on the Fox musical-comedy, will be returning to Broadway for its adaptation of the movie “Finding Neverland.” He will be playing the lead role of J.M.Barrie, the author who ended up creating the story of “Peter Pan” and inspiring countless generations. Johnny Depp played the role in the original film.

For Morrison, all we can hope is that it will be a great showcase of his talent, given how much we feel like he was snubbed over the past couple of years on “Glee.” Remember back when he was actually the lead of the show? The first season was when it was the strongest and most complex, and he actually received a great deal of awards consideration back then for being Will. Now, this sort of talk is unheard of as his role was scaled down, and the show has become increasingly silly and stuffed full of plot holes.

The show is going to begin previews on March 15, and you do have to wonder how Morrison will make all of this work schedule-wise. We imagine that the production will figure it out; he can likely film his episodes of “Glee” in a short span of time, and who knows? Given the shorter episode order this season, production is probably going to be over much earlier that it typically is. Sadly, we don’t have too much inside scoop on when the series finale is going to be filmed.

For now, though, why not just stick with telling us what you think about Morrison’s casting for “Finding Neverland.” If you are really curious in getting more “Glee” scoop, you can do so here. Meanwhile, the CarterMatt Newsletter page is the best destination to score further TV updates.
