‘The Newsroom’ season 3, episode 2 preview: First look at Jeff Daniels, cast in ‘Run’
Tonight, “The Newsroom” kicked off a third season that crammed quite a bit into the span of a single hour. ACN is still not in a good position, and to go along with that, we’re going to have to see some senior members of the group struggle to save its reputation still.
That is why next week’s episode “Run” is going to feature a fundraising attempt, and also some more PR work to save the network from themselves. Also, “The Office” alum B.J. Novak is going to have a prominent role.
In case you haven’t seen it yet, take a look at the official synopsis via HBO right now:
“Leona and Reece look to raise cash in order to salvage ACN and thwart Blair and Randy. Will gets a surprise at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, while Charlie trades visions with ACN suitor Lucas Pruit (B.J. Novak). Maggie’s EPA scoop makes it to “News Night.” Sloan and Don try to keep their relationship a secret from a new HR veep.”
As for the promo below, the person front and center for almost all of it is Neal, who has to handle all eyes being on him in the wake of his source. If he reveals it, he could be in huge trouble; however, the same goes for if he doesn’t. Dev Patel is going to have some pretty excellent material before this series closes, and he will be almost in danger of losing everything throughout.
There are no guarantees for him or anyone else at ACN; this is just the name of the game for this business.
