‘The X Factor’ UK results: Was Only the Young, Paul Akister, or Jay James eliminated?
Tonight’s “X Factor” UK results show had the potential to be one of the most interesting episodes of the entire season, given that we had so many different acts all potentially going home. The easy assumption would be to say that it was between both Stereo Kicks and Only the Young, but they both gave great performances the night before.
Instead, this seemed like a night where someone like Paul Akister, or one of the acts from Simon Cowell’s team, could ultimately be the one to leave the competition. The interesting thing was that due most likely to One Direction, they revealed the results early … or at least some of them.
The show basically decided to annoy everyone before the One Direction performance, leaving us off on a cliffhanger with Paul Akister, Jay James, and Only the Young all in jeopardy. We’re not that surprised about any of this.
Only the Young was spared, and this brought us to an interesting sing-off. It’d be pretty sad if the veteran Jay was sent home around Remembrance Day, but our concern was that the other judges would want to hit Simon Cowell where it hurts, especially since Jay is sick still.
In the end, it was a deadlock vote that sent Paul home, spared Jay, and probably made Paul hate Louis Walsh even more. Basically, the man is responsible for ruining his time on the show twice.
Still, we actually feel like it is the right choice. Paul is the better singer, but Jay is the better overall artist. Based on the boos in the crowd, though, not everyone may agree.
