‘Doctor Who’ season 8 Christmas Special spoilers: What we know for Jenna Coleman, Peter Capaldi’s journey

Tonight, the end of “Doctor Who” season 8 formally presented itself, but there is still another big TV event worth looking forward to in just over a month: The big Christmas Special! This is the first full special for Peter Capaldi as the Doctor, and the third for Jenna Coleman playing the many different faces of Clara Oswald.

To date, there has not been a whole lot of information released about this episode, save for that imagination, dreams, and hopes may be a key. We want to tie this back in a way to “Listen,” but there is probably not any real reason to do that just yet.

We do at least know that there is a major guest star in here in Father Christmas, played by the always-brilliant Nick Frost. What a thrill for him! This actually was a part of the cliffhanger at the end tonight’s “Death in Heaven.”

There was not a whole lot revealed about the special in the trailer below, at least other than that the Doctor will be teaming up with the Jolly Old Elf in an attempt to try and keep holiday cheer … or at least so we think. It is almost impossible to really gauge what the story is going to be for an episode based on one little clip.

Overall, though, we feel like anyone who is a massive fan of “Doctor Who” probably feels pretty darn satisfied with what season 8 has brought to the table so far. We just hope that they continue to as we get near the very end for the next few months.
