‘Hawaii Five-0’ season 5, episode 7 review: Norman Reedus, Wo Fat, and other surprises
With tonight being the 100th episode of “Hawaii Five-0” we expect there to be a lot of nostalgia, some big moments, and more focus on the main cast story lines then on the “case of the week”… in other words, it will be exactly what we want to see!
Steve has been taken and he locked up in a room, where he is being gassed, drugged, and tortured. Who is torturing him? It’s Wo Fat and he’s looking for his father thinking that Steve knows where he is.
When Wo Fat says that they have the same mother, Steve calls him out as a liar saying that he tested their DNA and it wasn’t a match. Wo Fat says that Steve doesn’t know anything about his mother Doris, but Steve reminds him that he does know that Doris was hired to kill Wo Fat’s father and accidentally killed his mother. Wo Fat tells him that Doris was so overwhelmed with guilt that she took Wo Fat in for many years and raised him as her own until her superiors figured out what happened and forced her to abandon him.
Steve is able to break free from being held captive and fights Wo Fat for his freedom. As they both pull guns out on each other and both pull the trigger, the Five-0 team shows up to help. After being drugged and tortured for so long, Steve needed a little help and luckily the Five-0 team is on the scene. More then that we finally have some resolution on the Wo Fat story line as he is now dead and Steve has answers as to his connection to Doris.
While Steve was being drugged by Wo Fat we had a different look (through hallucinations) at Steve, his father and how he met Danny, Chin and the crew (also there was a nice little cameo from Norman Reedus from “The Walking Dead” being a badass as always). Steve was transporting Anton (Reedus), and Victor was holding Steve’s father ransom wanting to trade brother for father. Danny ends up saving Steve’s father and their first interaction with each other is fun one (including Danny driving his own car). When questioning Victor, Steve quickly learns how Danny works as a cop as he starts shooting Victor in hospital bed for answers. He is told that the man who called the hit on Steve’s father was a man named Wo Fat. When Steve tries to get answers from Wo Fat about why he tried to kill his dad, he of course doesn’t get any. Danny asks Steve to stay in Hawaii and work with him as a cop, and he declines, but he later decides to stay in Hawaii.
This was such a great episode – seeing how Steve and Wo Fat are connected was just what we have been waiting for. We couldn’t have been any more thrilled with the 100th episode – they did everything right. Episode grade: A

With Wo Fat dead…they do not have to continue the Dorris/Elder Fat story lines either…unless Elder Fat comes looking for revenge and Dorris takes the bullet…last episode of the season??? However, now they are going to start another 4 season long story line??? That seems unnecessary like the whole Jonas character was. Personally I really prefer the self contained episodes. A 2 or 3 part-er are okay once or twice a season. And crossovers…??? I just realized, Hawaii Five-O takes place in the same universe as JAG did…think about that…?

Hawaii Five-0 had a crossover with NCIS: LA
NCIS: LA is a spinoff of NCIS
NCIS is a spinoff of JAG
NCIS has another spinoff NCIS: NO
Therefore:
Hawaii Five-0, JAG, NCIS, NCIS: LA, NCIS NO all take place in the same universe.
Kensi, Sam, G and Vance make appearances in seasons 2 & 4.
Chin and Danny go to NCIS: LA during its 3rd season

Those weren’t flashbacks to how they all met. They were jumbled (often tongue-in-cheek) images/hallucinations from the mind of someone who was under the influence of mind-altering chemicals… Danny roughing up a suspect while Steve looked on? Danny driving his own car? Pure parody! (In-jokes for series devotees on the 100th episode.) And of course, the drugs also induced a bit of sad wishful thinking on Steve’s part: Visioning his dad saved, rather than killed. You may want to watch it again.
