‘American Idol XIV’: Fox releases key art, reminding you how awesome they are

American Idol XIV -With “American Idol” entering their fourteenth season, and with there being so much competition still in the singing-show category, Fox clearly does want you to know something: This is the premier singing show on the market.

We’ve seen this marketing strategy a few times from them already with some of their promos, and now we’re seeing it again courtesy of the latest key art released by Fox. They really want you to know that there artists have seen songs downloaded hundreds of millions of times, in addition to there being Grammy Awards, chart positions, Jennifer Hudson winning an Oscar, and a whole lot more. (We wonder how Hudson continues to feel about the show touting that, even though she was a surprisingly early exit during the live shows.)

Why does this show continually get better stars than “The Voice,” or any other singing show? We really think it’s about more than just the contestants. They also get a longer period of time to shine, courtesy of a lengthier series of live shows, and also an audition process that is not so reliant on watching a coach turn around for them. You see so much more singing over the course of the season, and you do occasionally get a few original performances thrown in there for good measure. Sometimes, that really can make a big difference.

The new season begins in January, and given the ratings that Fox has been getting for most of their programming lately, they need this show more than ever.
