‘Criminal Minds’ season 10, episode 6 review: Jennifer talks to Henry about Rosaline

Criminal Minds -Last week on “Criminal Minds” we of course had a Halloween themed episode, and while that was a lot of fun to watch, we didn’t have much movement with our main characters and their stories. We are hoping to dive back into their worlds tonight and of course enjoy the new case of the week that the team has in store for us.

Jennifer’s mom is visiting for a few days and as many moms like to do, she meddles in Jennifer’s life. She decides to talk to Henry about Rosaline (Jennifer’s younger sister who committed suicide) telling him that she’s “in a better place”, but Jennifer didn’t want to tell Henry at that age. She and Will made the decision to tell Henry when he was a bit older, but because her mom decided to tell him now she has to deal with the fallout since Henry now wants to know if he can go visit Rosaline in the “better place”.

Jennifer is furious at her mom since she wanted to tell Henry herself in the way she wanted to, but her mom thinks that hiding the truth is what ended up with Rosaline killing herself (too many secrets and no one listening). Jennifer has to go to work and tells her mom to stop telling Henry about Rosaline until she decides how she wants to handle the situation. After her mom goes back home, she sits down with Henry and tells him the story of Rosaline.

The case of the week was a twisted tale of Cinderella. A woman is killing rich charming men, placing cell phones in their mouths that ring at midnight, covering herself in cinders, and she was raised by a wicked step parent. When she meets a man she thinks is her prince charming, it quickly goes south and she kills him with her stiletto heel. Spencer was the hero as he brought her the shoe, placed it on her foot and lead her to a car to take her off to jail.

We don’t always get a lot of  episodes that  give us a lot of background on Jennifer, so we were thankful to see what’s going on in her life with Henry. It’s a tough situation when you half to talk to your child about death, so we understand Jennifer’s frustration that someone else does it before you have a chance to do it the way you feel is appropriate for you. Episode grade: C
