Jay Leno returning to ‘The Tonight Show’ Friday for Jimmy Fallon interview
Clearly, Jay Leno and NBC want to show that all is well with the current state of late-night. After all, he is going to be coming back to the show that made him an icon in “The Tonight Show” on Friday night.
The Associated Press was the first to report this news, and it marks the first time that Leno has say down to conduct an in-person interview with Fallon since passing along the baton. We’re sure that we will get a little bit of discussion as to what Leno is up to (which includes an upcoming CNBC show all about his cars) these days, in addition to probably another endorsement of how Fallon is doing. Jay has already said repeatedly that it was his time to leave the show, and he has no qualms about doing so in the end now.
Of course, it would have been so much more of an interesting interview to do if this was Leno on “The Late Show with David Letterman.” The CBS titan has had a long-standing feud with Jay that happened starting with Leno being handed the keys to “The Tonight Show” rather than Dave, who instead ended up starting a talk show over on CBS to rival it.
Hopefully, we’ll have something further to say about “The Tonight Show” and Leno’s return at some point in the very-near future, so be sure to be on the lookout for that … along with all of the other standard TV news that we are accustomed to reporting here.
