‘State of Affairs’: Katherine Heigl answers question about ‘rude’ claims; admits to mistakes

State of Affairs -While we have never professed ourselves to be the biggest fan of Katherine Heigl of all time, we will give her a little bit credit here for trying to learn from some of her mistakes.

Ultimately, it feels like the actress is probably going to perpetually be at the center of controversy for some of the comments that she has made over the years, first when it comes to “Grey’s Anatomy” and her eventual departure from that show, and then when it came to her role in the movie “Knocked Up.” Viewers can sometimes be an unforgiving bunch, and years later while promoting her new show “State of Affairs,” these are questions that the actress is now taking on.

Heigl did a Q&A session on Facebook this weekend, and when asked about talk that she is “rude,” she actually addressed it head-on rather than ignoring it:

“Yeah I’ve heard those too…honestly I don’t think I am…nothing makes me more uncomfortable than confrontation or hurting someones feelings and I would never, ever actively do so on purpose … Of course just like any human being I’ve made mistakes and unwittingly or carelessly spoken or acted but I always try to make any wrong right. That doesn’t mean I won’t stand up for myself by drawing boundaries and asking to be treated kindly and respectfully but I don’t do that with any rude or unkind intentions just with the same strength and honesty I think every one of us is entitled to.”

Ultimately, it’s probably good for Heigl to take on the questions a few times, show that she’s not the person they perceive her to be, and then move forward. Obviously, she has a good bit riding on the new show, and so does NBC. They are giving it a great platform following “The Voice,” but it is still to be seen if this will be enough to have viewers tuning in.
