‘NCIS’ season 12 spoilers: Can Gibbs be a hero (again)?
The reason we even feel a need to qualify the title of this “NCIS” article is pretty simple in itself: How many times can a guy like Gibbs really be a hero at this point? Time will tell, but he is going to get another opportunity to do so on “Semper Fortis,” which is the title for the upcoming eighth episode of the season.
For those looking for a title translation, think of this as the Navy’s answer to “Semper Fi,” the motto for the Marines. It basically is a vow to constantly remain strong against all odds, which is what Mark Harmon’s character may have to do in this episode when it airs on Tuesday, November 18. He has to clear the name of a woman who is trying to do right, but facing a number of near-impossible obstacles.
CBS just released their full synopsis earlier this week, and you can take a look at it below:
“While the NCIS team investigates the cause of a hit and run accident that resulted in the death of a Petty Officer, Gibbs searches for a way to clear a Navy Hospital Corpsman, who has served two medical tours in Afghanistan, after she’s indicted for illegally providing medical aid to the victims of the crash, even though the surviving victims swear by her life-saving techniques.”
Character-wise, this is not a synopsis that can really brag about giving much in the way of information away. Still, it sounds like a fascinating episode, and one to put on the roster of ones worth checking out whenever it does air.
We do have a while before making it to that point, so our suggestion for now is to just head over here to preview the next new installment of the show right now! The show has become all about how Gibbs’s character will be flattered in this week’s story. Of course he’ll be the hero. So what else is new? For some reason (maybe a new contract stipulation – maybe Mr. Glasburg’s out of control love for Harmon) the show has become the super Gibbs show. It’s kind of sad because several of the episodes seem better written, but the predictability and inclusion of the – isn’t Gibbs awesome? scene and theme is unvarying. The official spoilers even herald the GIbbs show now. Whereas they used to say something like “the team investigates . . . ” now it will say “Gibbs investigates . . . ” and then usually goes on further to explain how Gibbs will be affected or react because of “his” case. Ugh. Tired of super GIbbs agenda. They’re turning him into a cartoon character and marginalizing other more interesting characters.
