ABC’s ‘Revenge’ season 4, episode 5 review: David Clarke’s agenda; Charlotte falls apart
Would Emily Thorne finally get a chance to spend time with her real father in David Clarke? That is something that we wondered often throughout Sunday night’s new episode of “Revenge.”
This story here is entitled “Repercussions,” and that to us suggests that consequences are coming for a long time. With that being said, the consequences of many actions here are still to be very much determined. For example, what happens when Margaux and Victoria make a deal for all things David? Victoria is trying to continue controlling all aspects of his life, and that includes letting him visit Amanda’s grave and Charlotte introducing him to his “grandson,” who technically is not related to him at all.
Charlotte clearly has a problem with all of her lying, even if she has a very hard time expressing it to people who matter. Instead, we saw her at the end of the episode going to a new guy’s place, completely wasted.
Speaking of new faces to the show, Louise is none too pleased about Daniel Grayson and his current agenda now, which includes Margaux once again and their own power-alliance there. He has a little bit of his interest in many different circles right now, and he had some of the most surprising moments in this episode.
The king of surprises, though, at least for now, has to be Nolan and Emily. Neither one decided to take advantage of an opportunity to reveal to David the truth; Nolan had a face-to-face meeting, while Emily opted not to go over to see him at the end. They believe in the long game, and feel it is best for some thing to unravel over time.
This decision defined this episode and made it rather frustrating. We’ll just have to wait and see if it works. Grade: B-.
