ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7 spoilers: A big moment for Lanie, Esposito ahead

Are you rooting for Lanie and Esposito to get together for good on “Castle” season 7? We’ve loved the characters, but at the same time it has felt like they have been routinely underutilized thanks to everything else going on … at least until now.

According to a new report from TVLine, the pair is going to work through a “defining moment in their relationship” during an upcoming holiday-themed episode, which seems to be the perfect time for a little bit of romance. If nothing else, this should serve as a nice backdrop for the two characters to at least get a further opportunity to figure out where they stand.

Our opinion on Jon Huertas and Tamala Jones’ characters has been at least fairly constant over the past few years, at least in that we felt that they would have a little more of an opportunity to explore their relationship once we started to see things somewhat-resolved for Castle and Beckett. If that November wedding date holds, they should be already married by the time this story airs.

Let’s hope that at some point between here and there, another horrible event does not strike that gives one of them the sort of amnesia that you traditionally only see on soap operas.

Given that there is still at least half a season ahead, and potentially more seasons beyond that, there is still some time to give the Lanie / Esposito characters their proper due. Let’s just hope that fans will be happy with it once they get a chance to actually be together.
