ABC to air ‘Shark Tank’ spin-off ‘Beyond the Tank,’ will show more of process
For those of you who don’t think that “Shark Tank” tells enough of the story when it comes to its businesses, we may now have something for you that is much more up your alley. ABC has announced that it has officially ordered 10 episodes of “Beyond the Tank,” a new spin-off show that will focus on what happens to successful business who get a basic agreement with at least one of the sharks on the show.
The appeal of “Beyond the Tank” appears to be showing off possible success stories, but also the struggles that still come after the show. Often the investment deal falls apart after due diligence is completed, or there are internal problems that keep the business from succeeding in the first place.
Personally, we’re not quite sure if we need it. What we like about “Shark Tank” is that it is ultimately a series of bite-sized stories that gives you a little bit of insight into what it is like trying to make a life-changing decision with your business. You’re not bogged down with the stuff that does not make for interesting television, and you see enough during the Update portion of the show to know that some businesses actually do flourish after the show.
In the end, we’ll probably watch the new show once or twice to see if it is any good. but we’re not quite sure it is necessary. It feels more like an easy move to capitalize on the huge ratings that the original series nets for ABC.
