‘Arrow’ season 3 spoilers: David Ramsey on Diggle’s new mindset
Diggle was a popular character on “Arrow” before, but somehow, him become Daddy Diggle has almost made him the most precious person in all of mankind. It’s probably because he’s a father figure in some ways to Oliver Queen, and also to most of the people watching the show at the same time.
So is there anything that Diggle is still to teach Oliver this season? It seems like it, but from a different vantage point than before. Speaking to E! News, David Ramsey says that much of his character’s actions now are somewhat of a balance between trying to be a good father, and also help the world to ultimately keep his daughter safe:
“Diggle has reconciled all the parts of his life. He’s just as easy with being in a wonderful and loving relationship with Lyla and picking up his baby and rocking her to sleep at two o’clock in the morning, and then going and risking his life with Oliver. All those things exist in his world and he’s adjusted to it. Oliver hasn’t made that jump yet and that’s part of what this season is about, for him to make that jump to where Diggle is.”
The obvious thing that you have to remember here is that Oliver also has a child of his own somewhere out there, and it is someone who is definitely old enough to wonder who their father is and what they are up to. There is no timeline, though, on when or if that story is going to be brought up or addressed further.

Thanks for the David Ramsey article, Matt. These are so rare and so wonderfully refreshing to see. I adore John Diggle and each time David gives an interview I look forward to the show. I’m excited for his future storyline. I need to see him follow-up on HIVE and his brother’s assassination.
