‘Criminal Minds’ season 10, episode 4 preview: This episode may bug you

We probably should start off this particular “Criminal Minds” preview article by apologizing profusely for the very corny pun in the title. The problem here is that the network is not giving us a whole lot else to work with when it comes to their preview content.

All the new sneak peek below really does for us is freak us out completely, mostly because you have insects running amok underneath the skin of people. This is one of many things that this particular UnSub chooses to do, and of course the challenge for the likes of Thomas Gibson and company is to find a way to stop them, and also try to stomach some of what this guy chooses to do. Clearly, this is not your ordinary killer.

Where does the story go from here, moving into the rest of the season? We hope that it is in a direction that is a little more focused on the characters, and not so much the craziness that a given UnSub can surround themselves with. Television has changed a lot in the decade or so that this show has been on the air. It used to be a whole lot easier to come up with something that would completely shock us. Now, with other networks having the capacity to do more chilling and risque things, it is a whole lot harder to do that. That’s why you have to be more character-focused in this era, since you otherwise run the risk of being left behind.
