‘Faking It’ season 2, episode 5 preview: Karma’s not-so-sweet sixteen

On Tuesday night’s “Faking It,” we have a story that should make for a really happy occasion. After all, it’s Karma’s 16th birthday!

Unfortunately, and as anyone who follows TV knows, the big, “happy” events rarely ever end up going according to plan. Typically, they instead manage to blow up in someone’s face. Amy’s plans for Katie Stevens’ character are apparently going to fall apart early in the episode, and all the promo below really gives away is that in the end, something happens to spark a very big fight between the two.

Could there be a clue in the title? Well, “Past Tense” could be a reference to many different things:

  • The notion that Karma and Liam had a thing going on, but that it’s over now. (Or is it?)
  • That Amy and Liam slept together, but it was just one time and it was an accident that both parties agree on.
  • That it could be very hard for these two friends to have the relationship they once had before putting on this stunt.
  • Their overall level of popularity at school. Given that Karma spilled the beans on her faking it at drama class, and without telling Amy in advance, this could spell out all sorts of social problems.

As we’ve said all along, we do think the Amy / Liam secret is going to be coming out soon, and the longer it takes, the worse off everyone will be … unless it’s Karma’s birthday. You don’t reveal something like this on a birthday!
