‘Arrow’ season 2, episode 3 preview: Will Thea, Malcolm Merlyn return in ‘Corto Maltese’?

Roy -Tonight, we had an emotional episode of “Arrow” that featured some of the characters try to move forward following a tragedy. Unfortunately, this is not going to be something that can really be washed away overnight.

How about a trip for a little bit of a distraction? This may be what we have on the next new episode “Corto Maltese,” which is going to by and large revolve around Oliver, Roy, and Diggle making a trip down to the island known from the DC Comics world. This is a story that could feasibly bring Thea Queen back into the Starling City fold, but you have to wonder this in the process: Is she really the same Thea we remember?

The synopsis below does not give a whole lot away, but it does suggest that Diggle is going to have some unexpected problems. Also, we have Laurel beginning what may be some of her real training towards becoming Black Canary:

“Oliver (Stephen Amell) decides it’s time for Thea (Willa Holland) to come back to Starling City, so he packs for Corto Maltese, where Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) has traced Thea’s whereabouts. Lyla (guest star Audrey Marie Anderson) asks Diggle (David Ramsey) to go with Oliver because one of her field operatives, Mark Shaw (guest star David Cubitt), has gone dark in Corto Maltese and she’d like him to look into it. Feeling responsible for Thea’s departure, Roy (Colton Haynes) joins Oliver and Diggle on their journey. Shaw double-crosses Diggle, putting numerous A.R.G.U.S. agents, including Lyla, at risk. Meanwhile, Laurel (Katie Cassidy) meets Ted Grant (J.R. Ramirez), and Felicity adjusts to her new job.”

One other question here is simple: Where’s Malcolm Merlyn? We have to think that he may be wherever Thea is right now, based on what we saw in the finale.
